Diesels have been playing some good hockey the last few weeks, but just couldn't piece together 3 full periods for the elusive W's. With the final playoff spot up for grabs and getting the last Friday night special, the Diesels play like their season depends on it. 1st period is back and forth early, but the Diesels really start to gel late and pop in 3 goals to take the 3-0 lead after 1. Second period stays hot for the Diesels as they net another to make it 4-0! Then history seemed to start rearing its ugly head. The Diesels saw over the next period and a half 4 straight goals from the other side concluding about 2 minutes left in the game. 4-4 and all of the momentum going with the Edsels and another mistake by the Diesels allowed an Edsel forward in on Grashik almost alone! Fortunately, Ed was able to disrupt enough of the scoring change to prevent a quality shot. Damage done though as a penalty is called with under a minute to play! Diesels now stare at a difficult situation to hang on to the tie. After a couple of failed attempts on the power play, the Edsels force a pass that is mishandled then won by the Diesels. Puck is cleared out to Nate in the neutral zone who had plenty of daylight to the Edsel end. Nate enters the zone with 10s left and cuts across the slot making a nifty drop pass to Doug Sparks who sprinted 100 feet from the defensive zone. Time ticking down 9, 8, 7.... Doug fires the shot low five-hole and SCORES!!!! Diesels get the lead back with 6 seconds left! Final puck drop and the Diesels are able to dump it in for the timely win! Playoff bound once again!
