Note: These guidelines are meant to provide assistance to individuals who are not familiar with the Ford Hockey League. If you do not "fit" into one of the classifications, please make your best guess, based on the information below. The league does rate players with half-point ratings if you feel you fit in between two categories. Also note that the League AVERAGE for the 2022 season was about 3 while the MEDIAN rating was 3.5
5.0 | Has many years experience in organized hockey and may have played at a Junior or College level. Has elite level hockey skills (skating, puck handling, shooting and passing). This level player can typically carry the play on his own and plays a lead role on the team. Plays with experience and makes very few mistakes. Typically a good A League player. | |
4.0 | Has many years experience in organized hockey and plays on a regular basis. Has strong hockey skills (skating, puck handling, shooting and passing). This level player typically plays a strong supportive role in leading a team. Plays with experience and makes few mistakes. Typically an A or above average B League player. | |
3.0 | Has significant experience in organized hockey and plays on a fairly regular basis. Has moderate level hockey skills (skating, puck handling, shooting and passing). This level player generally plays a supportive role on the team. Typically a B or above average C League player. This is your "average" player. Complements good players well but doesn't control the game on their own. | |
2.0 | May have organized hockey experience. Has moderate skating skills, but may be weaker in puck handling, shooting, passing, role awareness and/or decision making. This level player generally plays a supportive role on the team. Typically a C or D League player. | |
1.0 | Has little to no organized hockey experience. Has beginner level skating skills (can skate) but generally has difficulties with puck handling, shooting, passing, role awareness and decision making. This level player generally plays a supportive role on the team. Typically a D League player. May also be a grizzled veteran hanging on to the last few years of playing. |
