Aerostars Game Write Up:

The vans roll into week 9 matchup with the tires fully pumped up following a week 8 victory.  We upgraded and went with the Michelin model XGV, size 75-R, 14-inch wheel.

They give that improved rolling resistance we've been looking for and on an Aerostar it upgrades an already elegant vehicle.  A much-needed upgrade as we are firmly in the meat of the schedule with a tough back-to-back.  Leg two features the Fiestas looking to keep the party going and add another win to the column.

First plays to a stalemate for much of the period with opportunities from both sides but the netminders hold.  We break the tie as the period ends to take a 1-0 lead.  We trade goals in the 2nd and Vinny gives us a 2-goal lead late on the powerplay.  3-1.  We head into the 3rd knowing the Fiestas are a tough 3rd period team.  Former rep and current Aerostars Tommy Bordeau was doing some "advanced scouting" on them so we had the inside track...(checks the bi-laws)...yeah it's legal.

We hold steady for half the period and capitalize on some loose change out front.  Rob slides in collects the puck and deposits it into the net.  4-1.  The Fiestas aren’t done as 14 seconds later they get it back.  4-2.  Something about that 2nd goal must have irked Wypych as he goes NBA Jam style on the Fiestas off the faceoff.  Dekes the first man, the second HE'S HEATING UP!!, toe drags the third…. HE’S ON FIRE!!!

Drives the puck to the corner, dekes another Fiesta player, dishes to a wide-open Will in front of the net, who tucks the biscuit in the basket. 5-2….12 seconds after the Fiesta score their 2nd, a riveting 26 seconds.  Fiestas bring the heat the final 4 minutes and pulled within one after Gorski fires one in from our goal line...but was the net off? They checked with Toronto (live barn), feed is grainy…ref points to the circle…good goal.  5-4.  Fiestas tried to tie it up with mere seconds left, we held strong and cleared the puck out of our zone to Wypych who could have added an EN goal to his total but, in the name of sportsmanship let the final few seconds tick off the clock.  Aerostars win.

Great game by both teams.  Marc played great and was the difference for us.  As Marc quoted later, “Joue guys aaa playeda great 25 minutues and aaa maybae not suoe good 5 minutues.”  We move onto week 10 (already?) and the Diesels.

Fiesta Game Write Up:

Wow, first and foremost, this was probably the most offense I've seen the Fiesta generate and not be rewarded. Hats off to Marc and the nets of Frank J. Lada civic center. The posts might be bigger than regulation, because I seemed to dent them about 5 times throughout the game.

We were trailing the entire game and just never managed to get out of the hole. Caldwell did everything right so we could get a chance at winning, but just couldn't seem to put enough behind Marc. Looking to bounce back against the Mariners next week. Big thanks to Chase and Akins for subbing.
