Mavericks Game Write Up:

Solid game both ways.  Mavericks are starting to play better together overall.

Marauders get a late goal in the 3rd to take the lead 2-1.  Mavericks pull Russ and give away another empty netter.

Let's take it to the Thunderbolts next week!

Marauders Game Write Up:

Week 6 and the Raud Squad is on another voyage for a W.

Time to batten down the hatches, swing the jib boom, hoist the sails, and other nautical terms.

With Caldwell and Russ “sspresso” in net, we knew this was going to be a low scoring game. Playing as drafted we reverted to our defensive ways and kept the first period scoreless. The Mavericks were able to generate some real quality scoring chances, but Caldwell was on his game.

Early in the second period the Raud Squad finds a way to crack the Russ “sspresso” code. On the power play, the Rauder Rep was able to feather a sauce pass back door where Jack “of all trades” Thomas was able to bury the puck and give the Marauders the 1-0 lead. The rest of the second and first half of the third was a lot of back and forth, and both of the goalies standing on their heads.

Halfway through the third the Marauder Rep takes a stupid penalty and gives the Mavericks a power play with time running out in a tight game. No need to worry though as PK specialist “Spazzy” Bazzy was able to carry the puck the length of the ice and pull off a nice little toe drag move to give the Marauders a 2-goal cushion. The cushion wouldn’t last long though as the Mavericks were not willing to go down easily. Nine seconds later Bradybaugh brings them to within one. The Mavericks pulled the goal late, but the Jack “of all trades” was able to make them pay by clearing the puck into the net for a 2-goal game.

Three quick notes:

1.       Caldwell with the POG for a phenomenal game, but the honors are shared with Jack for his 2-goal effort.

2.       Can-Up is thriving in the locker room with 2 cans stood up Monday night. The first from Timmy and a second late from Soper. We might need to make it more challenging.

3.       Another great bar turnout from the Marauders. Just wish the rest of the league would start showing up.
