Marauders Game Write Up:

Week 3 of the FHL is in the books and the Marauders are 3-0.

After back-to-back 2-1 games the Raud Squad was locked into the game plan. Play defensive, protect our zone, capitalize on our chances when we get them. This game was no different.

Took a little while for the first goal to be put on the board in this one, but “Spazzy” Bazzy was able to find the back of the net before the end of the period. The rookie had been trying to skate through the entire team for a little while before Taz bestowed some pearls of wisdom; “Shoot the damn puck kid.”

The second period is when the score sheet started getting some ink on it. Deroche would equal the score at one a piece, but then the Raud Squad responded with three goals of their own. One more from “Spazzy” and two from rookie Phenom Pearson. The two from Pearson were on the penalty kill as there were 4 penalties from the Raud Squad in this frame. I think the rookie just liked the extra room on the ice, thoroughbreds need more room to gallop.

Nice guy Chris Colarusso from the Diesels would bring the score to 4-2 early in the third showing that patented Diesel grit and determination. I think I heard him say “Soar-E” after he put the puck in the net. “Priceless” Pearson and “Spazzy” Bazzy would eventually net their third goal each to complete the hat tricks and give us the cushion we needed to secure the win. The two rookies would split the POG honors with the pair of hattys.

Three quick notes:

1.      Caldwell stood on his head again today. He stoned Deroche on 3 or 4 breakaways. One of which came off a direct pass from the Raud Rep in the first 2 seconds of the game.

2.      In a game with 8 penalties, Jim “Taz” Tassis had 0. In a post-game interview, Taz was quoted saying that he was a new man and that he found Jesus. This was surprising to hear considering Menard played on Monday.

3.      Overall, not a great game from the Raud Squad. A bit sloppy in a lot of different areas, but good teams find a way to win even on their off nights. Need to change things up and tighten up some loose ends to keep the streak going.

Diesels Game Write Up:

Diesels had another good showing. Just couldn't get enough through Kid Caldwell.
